Workshop | Podcasting and Writing in Art and Culture

An Paenhuysen and Arsalan Mohammad, Berlin-based writers, curators and arts educators, come to Tirana to present the workshop:

Podcasting and Writing in Art and Culture

In this two-part workshop, critical thinking in art is granted room to experiment and expand.

This workshop sets out to sharpen your skills and knowledge in critical thinking. How do you gain confidence in your voice? How do you focus your thinking? How do you express your informed opinion on an artwork? To answer these and other questions, writing will be used as a tool to think ideas and responses through.

By employing specific strategies, formats and styles, the workshop will open up your mind to fresh perspectives and approaches to studying, analyzing and understanding art. You will learn about communicating complex concepts in a way that audiences can understand, creating connections with your readers and forging the all-important trust and engagement that is crucial in developing your critical voice. Above all, you will be inspired by the joy and creativity of language and its possibilities and potential to connect and impact others.

An extensive part of the workshop is dedicated to podcasting, the medium that has been flourishing in recent years. In our podcast workshops, we’ll look at how podcasts can function in an art criticism context. We’ll address the potential of the medium, critique existing art-themed podcasts and debate how podcasting – as an individual or as part of a group – can create a channel of insight and inspirational ideas. In the workshop, we will work together to create a podcast of our own, that will demonstrate the entire conceptualization and production process, as well as covering mixing, editing and distribution. By the end of the workshop, attendees will be equipped to begin their own personal productions for their own social media channels.

Our coaching sessions will spark your imagination and inspire you to develop and express your own ideas, to local and global readers and listeners. We aim to instigate a community of critical art thinkers and stimulate the sharing that is crucial in developing a critical voice.

This workshop is for professional and aspiring writers, thinkers, communicators, and producers.

Participants are expected to attend both workshops.
