Remijon PRONJA, the winner of the ARDHJE Award 2018, in conversation with Alketa Ramaj, the winner of the ARDHJE Award 2013.

Remijon PRONJA was born in 1984 in Tirana, where he also lives and works. He studied in Italy and received his MA degrees in painting and contemporary art research from the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milano (2011). REMIJON PRONJA is the winner of 2018 Ardhje Award for Young Visual Artists from Albania. He had three solo exhibitions so far: “Inno alla Gioia”, Galleria Opere Scelte, Torino (2018), “Untitled in Allegro Moderato”, Zeta Gallery, Tirana (2017), and “rex anonymous”, Ku(rz)nthalle Bregenz, Austria (2014). He took part in numerous group exhibitions, among which: “ Reaching Into Transformation”, CP Project Space, NYC, USA (2019); “Executive (Dis)Order: Art, Displacement & the Ban”, Queens Museum, New York (2018); “Exgratia”, Collezione Giuseppe Iannaccone, Milan (2018); “Idromeno Award”, Shkodër (2017); Mediterranea 18 Young Artists Biennale, Tirana (2017); “The Whale That Was a Submarine”, Ludwig Museum, Budapest (2015); “Post Young Albanian Artists”, Fondazione Museo Pino Pascali (2013); “Onufri XIX: Perchance to Dream”, National Art Gallery, Tirana (2012).

Alketa RAMAJ was born in 1983 in Permet, she lives and works in Tirana. She was the winner of 2013 Ardhje Award for Young Visual Artists from Albania and of 2012 Onufri Prize. She participated in artist-in-residence programs such as: Art House, Shkodra (2018), ISCP-International Studio & Curatorial Program, New York (2014), Culturspace, Basel (2013), KulturKontakt Austria, Vienna (2013), and T.I.C.A-Tirana Institute of Contemporary Art, Tirana (2011). Her solo shows include: “Salon”, ISCP-International Studio & Curatorial Program, New York (2014), “No Title”, Stacion–Center for Contemporary Art, Prishtina (2014) and “Where I End You Begin” (together with Dritan Hyska), La Fenice Gallery, Venice (2013). Her work was featured in international group shows in Europe (Vienna, Venice, Milan, Frankfurt/Main, Berlin, Karlsruhe, Basel, Amsterdam, Bari, Piran, Rijeka, Konjic, Cetinje, Shkodra, Tirana) as well as in Latin America: Curitiba (Brazil), Mar De Pata (Argentina), and Valparaiso (Chile). Her most recent group exhibitions include: “Ex-Gratia”, Collezione Giuseppe Iannaccone, Milan (2018), Bienal de Curitiba, Museu Oscar Niemeyer Curitiba (2017), “Do You Want Something Sweet?”, Mestna galerija, Piran (2015), “Bienal del fin del mundo”, Mar De Pata / Valparaiso (2014-2015) and “Post Young Albanian Artist”, Fondazione Museo Pino Pascali, Bari (2014). Her work was also featured in two art fairs in Vienna: Viennacontemporary (2016) and Parallel-Vienna (2015).
