Ardhje Award – Information and Workshop
Zeta organizes a 3-day workshop, intended as part of the professional support of the Ardhje Award, offering to the participating artists the tools, skills, and knowledge to apply for both this award and for open calls, grants, residences, or other exhibition opportunities.
This workshop aims to develop the capacity of Albanian artists towards a balance between the creative process and professionalism, or towards a growing, sustainable, and internationally competitive artistic career.
All interested artists are invited to ZETA in Tirana for an introductory meeting of the Ardhje Award, with Valentina Koça, Director of Zeta Center and Marko Stamenkovic, curator, the editor of the Ardhje Award publication 2007-2018.
The workshop is divided into three daily cycles:
Thursday, 27 May 2021, 16:30
The first workshop will take place in ZETA and will focus on the technical aspects of preparing and presenting artistic practice through writing a CV, short biography, “artist statement,” and making a portfolio. We will also discuss the key principles of researching, writing, and applying for project funding, for various residences, and for other creative opportunities. A number of examples will be considered to illustrate examples in the field, methods, and best practices. We will also discuss how to document the process of artistic practice for personal archives, and for working samples for applications.
Friday, 28 May, 16:30
The second session will take place online, for the interested applicants who reside outside of Tirana or cannot be physically present during the first session. The ZOOM link will be provided to registered applicants in advance.
Saturday, 29 May, 16:30
The third and the last session focuses on workshop’s outcomes and aims to share learned experiences among participants, while taking into consideration the examples (or samples) of their own CVs, short biographies, “artist statements” and portfolios. It will take place both online and offline.
The workshop is open for future applicants for the Ardhje Award, but also for artists at different stages of their artistic and professional career.
Registration is mandatory.
Artists are required to register until Wednesday, 26 May 2021 by Email to:
zetagaleri@gmail.com
Participants are expected to have a basic knowledge of English, as the workshop will be conducted in English, due to the material and references used.
The ARDHJE Award is realized in collaboration with Residency Unlimited (RU), the institution which will host the winning artist for a two-month residency in New York in 2022, and is supported by the Albanian Ministry of Culture and the foundation: The Trust for Mutual Understanding, NY.
