The publication entitled “RESISTANCE” comes as a product of the regional residency program in Tirana held in the period March-June 2020, which was implemented virtually while facing the great global challenge COVID-19 and the exhibition entitled HETEROTOPIAS OF RESISTANCE, curated by Blerta Hoçia.

This project was organised by ZETA Contemporary Art Center and supported by Swiss Cultural Fund in Albania (SCFA), a project of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).

The participating artists in the program and the guest lecturers made a qualitative intellectual contribution through the exchange of ideas, production of artworks, underlining the importance of opposition, revolt and rejection of any status quo or privilege used as backlash to the development potentials of a society in transition. The geographical context that this project claimed to diagnose, turned out to be increasingly toxic, especially during the last decade (2010-2020), exposing the dark side of political governance under the guise of “democracy”, when it dramatically leans towards autocratic regimes, and stimulate social imbalances.
